About this photo
This plaque near the Sydney Opera House was placed in March 1959 to mark the start of the construction of the Opera House. It was also used, according to the plaque, as the base point for all measurements during the construction. The plaque was placed by the then Premier of New South Wales, John Joseph Cahill.
