About this photo
The Boston Custom House dates from the 17th century, but the present structure was built in 1849 and this tower was added in 1915. It's no longer used by the government, and is now known as Marriott's Custom House Hotel. The photo shows curtains in the windows, which provide a hint of how the building's function has changed.
