About this photo

The Coca Cola Beat Box, designed by Asif Khan and Pernilla Ohrstedt with music by Mark Ronson and Katy B. The entire structure is designed to be a musical instrument, enabling visitors to remix the song 'Move to the Beat' as they navigate the building. As they walk through, they can touch some of the panels to trigger sporting sounds that go with the music. The panels themselves are soft and vibrate with the music, so it was an interesting way to make sampling feel more physical. The samples could have been integrated better with the music, though. The Coca Cola Beat Box was in the Olympic Park for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
