Photo of the Massachusetts State House, Boston
|2 of 23|
The Massachusetts State House in Boston, pictured in a snowy January in 2009. Although the State House has been modified and extended over the years, its original design and construction dates back to 1795. The State House was designed by Charles Bulfinch and built on land donated by John Hancock. Samuel Adams laid the cornerstone, and the copper for the dome (which was later covered in gold leaf) was rolled in Paul Revere's foundry.
