CSS and HTML color table: Discover the standard color names your browser knows
There are 147 color names you can use in your CSS style instructions, representing a total of 140 colors because some colors have two names. Here's a table that shows them all, in alphabetical order. It also includes their hex color codes, so you can more easily compare these colors with others in your palette. Use this chart as a cheat sheet to remind you of the color names, or use it to inspire your new website design.
If you're curious, I created this layout using flexbox to achieve a fully responsive layout that will reflow depending on the amount of screen space available. Learn out to use flexbox in the new 7th edition of Web Design in Easy Steps.
You might also be interested in the websafe colour palette. It dates from a time where few colors displayed consistently on screens, so it's no longer required. However, it may still inspire some color ideas for your website and give you a clearer idea of how the hex numbers relate to colors.
