About this photo
This photo shows another view of Corfu, taken from the New Fortress. On the right, at the back of this picture, you can see the Old Fortress, built on a twin-peaked rock. Corfu grew around this site since the 6th century, but the fortifications you can still see today mostly date from the period of 1386 to 1797, during the Venetian occupation of the island.
