Linking to my websites

Thank you for linking to me - if you've found this site helpful, it's a great way to show your appreciation and help the website to grow.

Thanks again for linking - every link is appreciated. Read on if you'd like to suggest I consider linking to your website.

Requesting a link exchange

Introduction

I value my link partnerships but this website is not my full time job and I receive more requests than I can cope with. This page will explain how I choose the links on this site and tell you how you can suggest your link for inclusion.

If you follow these guidelines, I promise to visit your site and reply to you.

Thank you for your patience - I look forward to hearing from you.

Step one: Check I'm likely to link to you

I will decline requests from:

Step two: Read the small print

I'm designing a website for people, not spiders, so my link text will be your company or website name in most cases. Otherwise I'd have a list of indistinguishable links saying 'website design' on one of my links pages.

Link requests are usually processed once a month. Please don't pester me to respond sooner.

Step three: Get your linking code

I will only consider link requests from websites that are already linking to me. Please link directly to the section of the site that's most relevant for your audience. Here are some suggested links codes (the bold text is just there for your guidance). You just need to pick one...

Please do not frame my websites or take any graphics from my websites to use in links without permission.

Step four: Upload your link code

Please put the link code on your website and test it works before proceeding.

Step five: Request your link

Make sure the subject of your email is *Links* sean.co.uk enquiry

Write 'Dear Sean' at the start of your email and it'll jump the queue - it shows you've read these link guidelines or paid some attention to my website.

You now need to send me:

Email me about your link request.

If you didn't read Step two above, do so now!

Step six: be patient

I take my link partnerships seriously, but please don't expect a rapid turnaround. I have a full time job and this website isn't it. At the moment I'm managing to bulk-process link requests once a month.

If you haven't heard after four weeks, please do get in touch to check your email didn't get lost in transit.

Please do not put deadlines in your email or keep sending me the same request.

Thank you

Thank you for your patience in reading that. I know there's a lot there, but I was concerned it was taking a while to respond to link requests and I was having the same issues come up repeatedly. By publishing these guidelines, I've been able to speed up my response time to link partners who take the trouble to look at my site properly. If you've read this far, that's you.

I visit all the sites I link to and consider them individually. If you've followed these guidelines, I will reply to let you know if I'm going to link or not (and if I'm not going to link, I'll tell you why). I decline very few link requests sent by people who have read these guidelines.

I hope this will enable us to get our links up and running more smoothly - I look forward to hearing from you.
