Photo of the Gate of Supreme Harmony, Forbidden City in China

This photo shows the Gate of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City, Beijing. It's the first large gate that you encounter when you enter the Forbidden City. Like many buildings in China, it is guarded by two stone lions, a female on the left and a male on the right. The female has a baby lion under her paw and the male has a ball. I've crouched down low to take this photo so that I could effectively crop out the huge numbers of tourists milling around here. This gate was used to host banquets during the qing dynasty (1644 to 1912).
